Terms & Conditions for Headway

By downloading or using the Headway app, these terms will automatically apply to you. You should make sure therefore that you read them carefully before using the app.

Ownership and Intellectual Property

You're not allowed to copy or modify the app, any part of the app, or our trademarks in any way. You're not allowed to attempt to extract the source code of the app, and you also shouldn't try to translate the app into other languages or make derivative versions. The app itself, and all the trademarks, copyright, database rights, and other intellectual property rights related to it, still belong to Huseyin Cem Ozturk.

All ambient audio content included in the app has been sourced from royalty-free libraries under appropriate licenses (CC0 or CC BY). Visual assets and UI designs are the intellectual property of Huseyin Cem Ozturk.

Service Description

Headway is a focus session app that helps you stay productive by blocking distracting apps and providing ambient soundscapes during timed work sessions. Huseyin Cem Ozturk is committed to ensuring that the app is as useful and efficient as possible. For that reason, we reserve the right to make changes to the app or to charge for its services, at any time and for any reason. We will never charge you for the app or its services without making it very clear to you exactly what you're paying for.

Screen Time and App Blocking

Headway uses Apple's Screen Time APIs (FamilyControls, ManagedSettings, and DeviceActivity frameworks) to block selected apps during focus sessions. By granting Screen Time authorization, you acknowledge that:

• The app blocking feature requires Screen Time permission, which must be granted through iOS Settings.
• You are responsible for selecting the apps you wish to block. Headway facilitates this selection but does not control or verify which apps you choose.
• App blocking operates at the system level and may affect other Screen Time configurations on your device.
• You can revoke Screen Time authorization at any time in iOS Settings. Revoking authorization will disable app blocking functionality.
• We are not responsible for any impact on productivity, workflow, or device configuration resulting from your app blocking selections.

Data Storage and Device Security

The Headway app stores all data locally on your device. This includes your focus session history, preferences, sound settings, and app blocking configurations. It's your responsibility to keep your phone and access to the app secure. We therefore recommend that you do not jailbreak or root your phone, which is the process of removing software restrictions and limitations imposed by the official operating system of your device. It could make your phone vulnerable to malware, viruses, or malicious programs, compromise your phone's security features, and it could mean that the Headway app won't work properly or at all. Jailbroken devices may also interfere with Screen Time APIs, which are required for the app blocking feature.

Third-Party Services

Apple System Frameworks

Headway relies on the following Apple system frameworks. Their availability and behavior are controlled by Apple and may change with iOS updates:

• FamilyControls / ManagedSettings / DeviceActivity — for app blocking. Apple may change or restrict access to these APIs at any time.
• ActivityKit — for Lock Screen and Dynamic Island Live Activities.
• AVAudioEngine — for ambient audio playback and mixing.
• UserNotifications — for local focus session notifications.
• CoreHaptics — for haptic feedback.

We have no control over changes Apple may make to these frameworks, and we are not responsible for any loss of functionality resulting from Apple's modifications to their platforms or APIs.

Audio Content

All ambient sounds bundled with the app are played locally. No internet connection is required for audio playback. We are not responsible for the quality or suitability of third-party audio content for your specific use case.

No Internet Connection Required

Headway operates entirely on-device and does not require an internet connection for core functionality. All features, including focus sessions, app blocking, ambient audio, Live Activities, and session history, work fully offline.

Limitation of Liability and Disclaimer

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMERS:

• The app is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind.
• We do not guarantee that app blocking will prevent access to all apps or content in all circumstances. Determined users may find ways to circumvent blocking.
• We do not guarantee that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or compatible with all iOS versions or device models.
• We are not responsible for any loss of productivity, missed obligations, or other outcomes resulting from your use of or reliance on the app.
• Session history and streak data are maintained locally and may be lost if you delete the app, restore your device, or if data corruption occurs.
• We do not guarantee that Live Activities or notifications will be delivered in all circumstances, as these depend on iOS system conditions.
• We accept no liability for any loss, direct or indirect, you experience as a result of relying on the app's functionality.

Prohibited Uses

You agree NOT to:

• Use the app for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app.
• Attempt to bypass or circumvent the app blocking functionality through technical means.
• Use the app in any way that violates Apple's terms of service or Screen Time usage policies.
• Copy, redistribute, or resell any part of the app or its audio content.
• Remove or modify any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices.
• Use the app in any way that could damage, disable, or impair the app's functionality.

App Updates and Termination

At some point, we may wish to update the app. The app is currently available on iOS. The requirements for the system may change, and you'll need to download updates if you want to keep using the app. Huseyin Cem Ozturk does not promise that it will always update the app so that it is relevant to you and/or works with the iOS version that you have installed on your device. However, you promise to always accept updates to the application when offered to you.

We may also wish to stop providing the app and may terminate the service at any time without giving notice of termination to you. Unless we tell you otherwise, upon any termination:

• The rights and licenses granted to you in these terms will end.
• You must stop using the app, and (if needed) delete it from your device.
• All locally stored data will be deleted when you remove the app.

No Account Required

Headway does not require you to create an account or provide any personal information. You can use the app immediately after installation. You are responsible for maintaining your device's security to protect your locally stored session data and preferences.

Changes to Terms and Conditions

We may update our Terms and Conditions from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Terms and Conditions on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top. Changes are effective immediately after they are posted. Your continued use of the app after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms and Conditions.

Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Turkey, and you irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in that location.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that the Terms and Conditions will otherwise remain in full force and effect.
