Introduction

Huseyin Cem Ozturk built the Headway app as a free iOS application. This service is provided by Huseyin Cem Ozturk at no cost and is intended for use as is.

Headway ("we," "our," or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our iOS application.

We do not collect your name, email address, or any contact information.
We do not collect device identifiers or advertising identifiers.
We do not collect the specific apps you block — this selection is handled entirely by Apple's Screen Time framework and is never transmitted to us.
We do not use analytics, crash reporting tools, or any third-party tracking SDKs.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information stored locally on your device solely to:

Run focus sessions and enforce app blocking via Apple's Screen Time APIs.
Display ambient soundscapes and manage audio mixing during sessions.
Show session history, streaks, and focus insights within the app.
Display Live Activities on your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island during active sessions.
Send local notifications at the end of focus sessions (if enabled).
Apply your appearance and sound preferences consistently across the app.

Data Storage and Security

Local Storage Only

All data is stored locally on your device. We do not transmit, store, or process your data on external servers. Your session history, preferences, and all app data are stored exclusively in your device's local storage.

No Account Creation

Headway does not require you to create an account or provide any personal information. You can use the app immediately after installation without registration.

Screen Time and App Blocking

Headway uses Apple's Screen Time APIs (FamilyControls / ManagedSettings) to block distracting apps during focus sessions. The selection of apps to block is performed through Apple's native app picker and is managed entirely by the operating system. We do not have visibility into which specific apps you select, and this data is never transmitted to us or any third party.

Data Security

All data remains on your device and is protected by iOS security features, including device encryption and app sandboxing. We do not have access to your data as it never leaves your device.

Headway uses the following Apple system frameworks, which are subject to Apple's own privacy policies:

No Analytics or Tracking

We do not use any third-party analytics services, crash reporters, or advertising networks. We do not track your usage patterns, behavior, or session content.

Audio Content

All ambient sounds included in Headway (white noise, train sounds, nature sounds) are bundled within the app and played locally on your device. No audio is streamed from external servers, and no audio from your environment is ever recorded or transmitted.

Log Data

We do not collect any log data or crash reports automatically. If you experience issues with the app, you may choose to contact us directly with information about the problem, but no automatic data collection occurs.

Cookies

Headway does not use cookies. The app operates entirely on your local device without the use of cookies or similar tracking technologies.

Data Sharing and Disclosure

Your Rights and Choices

Data Control

You have complete control over your data within the app.

You can revoke Screen Time permissions at any time through iOS Settings.
Uninstalling the app will permanently delete all locally stored data.

Notifications

You can enable or disable session completion notifications through the app settings or iOS Settings at any time.

Screen Time Permissions

App blocking functionality requires Screen Time authorization. You can revoke this permission at any time in iOS Settings → Screen Time. Revoking permission will disable the app blocking feature but will not affect other app functionality.

Children's Privacy

Headway does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app is a productivity tool designed for general audiences. Since all data is stored locally on the device, a parent or guardian can delete all app data at any time by uninstalling the app.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top. Changes are effective immediately after they are posted.

Data Retention

Session History: Retained locally until you clear it in settings or uninstall the app.
User Preferences: Retained until you change them or uninstall the app.
All Data: Completely removed when you uninstall the app from your device.
