Terms & Conditions

Last updated: August 30, 2026

In short: Bookshelf provides an independent, visual view of book data from a Goodreads RSS feed you supply. It depends on Goodreads, Apple, internet access, and third-party content that we do not control. The app is provided as is, and your data remains stored on your device.

Acceptance of these terms

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") apply when you download, access, or use the Bookshelf application. By using Bookshelf, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

About Bookshelf

Bookshelf is a reading companion developed by Huseyin Cem Ozturk ("we," "us," or "the developer"). It reads a Goodreads RSS feed URL that you provide and presents feed content through a cleaner visual shelf, widgets, calendar views, and reading insights. Bookshelf does not let you log or rate books directly and does not replace Goodreads as the source of your reading activity.

Bookshelf is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Goodreads. Goodreads is a trademark of Goodreads LLC.

License and ownership

We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Bookshelf on Apple devices that you own or control, subject to these Terms and the applicable Apple Media Services terms. The app’s software, design, branding, and original visual elements belong to Huseyin Cem Ozturk or the applicable licensors.

Book titles, descriptions, metadata, cover artwork, Goodreads content, and third-party trademarks remain the property of their respective authors, publishers, rights holders, or service providers. Bookshelf’s display of this material does not transfer any ownership rights to you or to us.

Your Goodreads RSS feed

You are responsible for supplying a valid Goodreads RSS feed URL and for ensuring that you are permitted to access and use the associated feed. You may paste the URL into Bookshelf or use the in-app browser to sign in to Goodreads and select the RSS link.

Third-party services and content

Bookshelf depends on services and content we do not own or control, including Goodreads, Apple, book-cover hosts, publishers, and content delivery networks. Those services may change, restrict, interrupt, or discontinue access at any time. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to your interactions with them.

We do not guarantee that:

Internet access and device data

An internet connection is required to add or refresh a Goodreads feed and to download content such as cover images. Your carrier or internet provider may charge data fees. Cached content and some app features may remain available offline, but availability is not guaranteed.

Bookshelf data is stored locally on your device. You are responsible for maintaining your device, backups, and access security. Local data may be lost if you delete the app, lose or reset your device, restore from a backup, encounter storage corruption, or change devices. We cannot recover locally stored data because we do not operate a Bookshelf data server.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Availability, changes, and termination

Bookshelf is currently provided free of charge. We may add, remove, update, suspend, or discontinue features or the app itself. If paid features are introduced, their price and terms will be shown before purchase. We do not promise continued support for every device or operating-system version.

We may terminate or restrict your license to use Bookshelf if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it from your device.

Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Bookshelf is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, compatible with every device, or that its visualizations and insights will be complete or accurate.

Bookshelf’s calendar views and insights are for personal reflection only. They are derived from third-party feed data and should not be treated as authoritative records.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Huseyin Cem Ozturk will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses arising from your use of or inability to use Bookshelf, third-party services, or third-party content. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as Bookshelf changes. Revised Terms will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Material changes may also be communicated in the app when appropriate. Continuing to use Bookshelf after revised Terms become effective means you accept them.

Governing law and severability

These Terms are governed by the laws of Türkiye, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Courts with jurisdiction under applicable Turkish law will have jurisdiction over disputes, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live.

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, it will be limited or removed only to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in effect.
